
Students from the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies (LA&PS) gained valuable international experience through field placements in Japan and Mexico, where they taught English in an international context. As part of the Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Certificate Program, these placements give students the opportunity to complete their degree program with an additional qualification to teach English both in Canada and abroad. York students Kiersten Gibbons,Sydney Henhawk and Noah Jones improved their teaching skills during a placement in Meiji University in Tokyo, Japan, under the supervision of Professor Antonella Valeo from the Department of Literature, Languages and Linguistics. Students also completed placements in a new partnership in Oaxaca, Mexico.
