Vanisha Sukdeo, professor in the Department of Social Science, has completed two new books highlighting research into the intersection of law and workers’ rights.
Weather and Work: How Climate Change Relates to Workers’ Rights examines how climate change is affecting Canadian workers, especially those who work outdoors and face extreme conditions. The book highlights the importance of government, business and trade union intervention to address this issue and protect workers.
Mandatory Human Rights Due Diligence: From Legal Custom to Lawful Concern focuses on Canadian corporate law and how to improve corporate accountability towards workers in supply chains.
Sukdeo also teaches as an adjunct professor at Osgoode Hall Law School. Her research bridges corporate law and labour & employment law. Called to the Ontario Bar in 2007, she completed her Doctorate and LL.M. at Osgoode, earned her LL.B. from Queen’s University, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from York University.
