
Ian Stedman, associate professor of Canadian public law and governance at York’s School of Public Policy & Administration, was quoted in a recent CTV News article addressing calls for Labour Minister David Piccini’s resignation after a potential conflict of interest regarding the minister’s spouse. Stedman explained that situations like this are typically managed through an “ethics screen”, a process where an independent party monitors the minister’s communications to prevent conflicts.
Stedman holds a PhD in Law from Osgoode Hall Law School. His research interests include law and justice, science and technology, public sector ethics and accountability as well as AI.
