
Parbudyal Singh, professor of human resources management, commented in an article published by CTV News. The article discusses the new Working for Workers Act which took effect on Jan. 1. As part of the new legislation, job postings in Ontario are now required to disclose pay ranges, improving transparency for applicants. Additionally, new legislation makes it mandatory for employers to respond to the candidate within 45 days of the interview. Singh says this will help applicants since it means they will not be ‘ghosted’ by potential employers, giving them more agency. Since jobs will need a specific salary band associated with certain skills, this will lead to more planning around compensation systems within companies.
Singh received his PhD from McMaster University and his research covers emerging issues in human resources management and labour relations.
