Politics professor discusses Prime Minister Mark Carney’s China visit in CTV News

Headshot of Gregory Chin

Gregory Chin, associate professor in the Department of Politics, was quoted in an article in CTV about Prime Minister Mark Carney’s visit to China. This was the first visit of a Canadian prime minister to China in nearly a decade and an opportunity for the two countries to reestablish their trade relationship. Chin said China’s president extended an invitation, realizing that Canada’s trade relationship with the US has been unstable. He says this is an important opportunity for Canada to reset its relations with China at a moment when Canada’s interests need to be rethought.

Chin’s research focuses on the political economy of international money and development finance and China, Asia, the BRICS and global governance, with research spanning four decades.
