Ian Stedman, associate professor of Canadian public law and governance at York’s School of Public Policy & Administration (SPPA), was quoted in a recent National Post article discussing Chrystia Freeland’s decision to resign as MP to become an advisor to the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Stedman said there needs to be screens to ensure that Freeland is not sharing information from her role as MP and parliamentary secretary with the Zelenskyy government. Stedman also comments that he was surprised at how this announcement was shared, as details were released by Zelenskyy and not the Canadian government.

Stedman holds a PhD in law from Osgoode Hall Law School. His research interests include law and justice, science and technology, public sector ethics and accountability as well as AI.
