A recent article in HR Reporter looks at a UK survey assessing the risk for burnout among HR professionals using AI. A recent Coder Guild survey found that 95% of HR leaders in the UK report rising workloads, and 91% say their responsibilities have expanded over the past year due to increases in AI workforce planning and training. The report also revealed that only 24% of organizations have a documented AI workforce strategy and that AI is causing a greater disconnect between employees and their work, leading to burnout.

Parbudyal Singh, professor in the School of Human Resource Management, said this is not surprising since AI can often overload HR professionals with work, especially when organization is not well-managed. He said responsibility for training staff in AI technologies often falls on HR employees. Singh provides advice for how to reduce burnout in the transition to AI.

Singh received his PhD from McMaster University and his research covers emerging issues in human resources management and labour relations.
