Wendy McGrath is a poet, writer, and visual artist living in amiskwac\u00eew\u00e2skahikan (Edmonton) on Treaty 6 Territory. McGrath\u2019s writing practice embraces multiple genres\u2014fiction, poetry, spoken word, and creative non-fiction. McGrath describes her writing as \u201cPrairie Gothic\u201d and gives voice to working class stories. McGrath holds a Master's Degree in English from York University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Alberta. Her scholarly work focuses on the Prairie Gothic genre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Prairie Grindston Prize honours an Alberta or Saskatchewan writer in recognition of high-quality work and contributions to the public's appreciation for and understanding of Western Canada's landscape, people, history and culture. The $50,000 cash prize is awarded to writers of fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
