Sociologists also study how we shape the social world around us. The sociological theories, concepts, and research methods help us to understand pressing social issues and to develop new ways of critical thinking to address these challenges. With its internationally recognized faculty, York\u2019s Department of Sociology offers courses that engage with contemporary issues, including social inequality, global migration, precarious employment, racism and colonialism, diasporas, digital technologies, health, and the environment.
