Hours of Work: SU 10 hours per week; F/W 12 hours per week


Job Description:

The Events, Media and Projects Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to assist the LA&PS Colleges. 

The Events, Media and Projects Assistant may be required to assist with some of the following tasks:   

  1. Assist students, staff, faculty and the public with general enquires.   
  2. Write, edit and format a variety of documents such as newsletters, emails, social media posts, letters, reports, and presentations.   
  3. Collect, input and maintain information in spreadsheets and databases.   
  4. Assist with the preparation of promotional material and resources for events and initiatives organized by the College. 
  5. Provide support to the Colleges at events, including set-up and takedown, checking-in attendees and other logistical assistance as required. 
  6. Update contact lists and bulletin boards.   
  7. Assist with bulk mailings and hand deliver materials to locations across campus
  8. Assist with filing, photocopying, scanning, faxing and other administrative duties.   
  9. Ensure resources are available in reception area.  
  10. Assist with projects as assigned  
  11. Other duties as assigned   

Qualifications:

Education

  • Must be enrolled as a York student.   

Skills

  • Ability to communicate with others to explain and share information   
  • Ability to communicate clearly in written form    
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook or PowerPoint.   
  • Ability to meet deadlines and organize time effectively.   
  • Ability to act with tact and diplomacy towards faculty, staff and students from a wide variety of backgrounds.
