Award Type: Bursary

Consideration will be given to all undergraduate students who self-identify through the OSAP application process as having been in the permanent care of a Children’s Aid Society or the Child and Family Services Agency and who have confirmed this status through submission of the Verification of Status with Ontario Children’s Aid Society From. Or if you have child welfare or child protection status with another province in Canada or outside Canada, you must provide a letter from the appropriate children’s aid society or other agency confirming your status.
The York University Youth in Care Bursary was created to provide financial support to current or former Youth in Extended Society Care in Ontario (formerly called Crown Ward) who are enrolled in direct entry, undergraduate programs. The bursary will be valued at up to $3000 depending on the students financial need as assessed through our FAAS application.
Students who were in care in Ontario do not need to apply directly for the bursary; we will use our OSAP file to identify the candidates and then cross reference that with our bursary application. The bursary is also open to students who were in care in other provinces. They will be able to apply through the FAAS application and will be required to provide a letter from the appropriate children’s aid society or other agency confirming their status. The bursary will be assessed in the Fall and the application period for out of province students will be from Oct 1 - Oct 31. There will be no age limit on the bursary but it will be available to undergraduate students only.
To apply, please complete your FAAS profile.
