Student Experience Fund

Lacking the funds to attend or sponsor a student event? You may be eligible for the LA&PS Student Experience Fund. Overseen by the Centre for Student Success, this fund supports students who wish to attend or clubs that promote an event or activity that supports leadership, career development, professional advancement, or personal or academic knowledge.

There are TWO funding options available. In both cases applications must be submitted one month prior to the event or initiative or before the semester deadline, whichever comes first.

Eligibility

  • Current registered LA&PS undergraduate students in good standing.
  • Preference will be given to students presenting papers at conferences or participating in Conference Poster Sessions.
  • Students who receive a LA&PS Student Experience Fund are expected to “give back” to the LA&PS community in a tangible way. These details will be worked out with the Student Experience Fund administrator before the release of funding.

Funding Details

  • Students may request up to $500.
  • To receive funding, you will be required to provide original receipts or invoices within 10 days following your attendance at or the end of the event. (Credit card stubs are not sufficient.)
  • The funds will then be transferred to your personal student account.

Eligibility

  • LA&PS student clubs and associations.
  • The fund will not support initiatives or events with a political or religious theme, nor those where alcohol will be served. Get more details below.
  • One funding request per semester will be granted, and no retroactive funds will be allocated to the same event.

Funding Details

  • Clubs may request up to $500.
  • To receive funding, you will be required to provide original receipts or invoices within 10 days following your attendance at or the end of the event. (Credit card stubs are not sufficient.)
  • If your funding is approved, you’ll need to fill out the provided payment requisition form, including the account number associated with the club so funds can be deposited.

Award Notification Process

Reviewed

All applications will be reviewed and applicants will be contacted if follow-up information is needed.

Approved

Once funding has been approved, the applicant will complete the appropriate Funding Agreement.

Awarded

Funding will be awarded retroactively when the applicant submits original receipts.

*Approval of a LA&PS Student Experience Fund grant represents financial support only and is not evidence of the involvement or endorsement of the activity and/or event by York University or the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. Guest speakers are required to be paid through Payroll.
