"Freshly Squeezed"
Design Not From Concentrate

TORONTO, April 17, 2000 -- Freshly Squeezed, a design exhibition showcasing the piquant talent of students graduating from York University's Department of Visual Arts and the York University/Sheridan College joint program in design, runs May 1 to 6 at the Design Exchange.

Here is a juicy opportunity to talent-spot designers at the peak of their freshness. Freshly Squeezed includes multi-media, digital explorations, print-oriented work, industrial and interior design. The entire exhibition is organised by the graduating students themselves to celebrate their entrance into the corporate and professional design world.

Among the two dozen exhibitors will be the first graduates of the innovative new program in communication design offered by York University's Department of Design in partnership with the Design Department at Sheridan College, leading to Ontario's first Bachelor of Design degree.

York U. design graduates are found throughout North America in many creative capacities. Toronto-based alumni include Diti Katona, partner of the international, award-winning company Concrete Design Communications Inc., Catherine Pike, Toronto Star's assistant art director and award-winner for newspaper design and Caren Watkins, art director of Chatelaine magazine.

Freshly Squeezed runs from Mon. May 1 to Sat. May 6 at the Design Exchange, Ground Level, 234 Bay St. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and Sat. from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is free. For further information, check out www.design.yorku.ca/freshlysqueezed.
