TORONTO, October 9, 1998 -- York University graduate (BA'97) Ayden Byle, 23, needs as many as five shots of insulin a day to survive. An insulin-dependent diabetic, Byle is running across Canada to raise money and awareness for diabetes research. As part of his nation-wide run, Byle will stop at York University on Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Vice-President (Enrolment and Student Services) Deborah Hobson and Director of Alumni Affairs Charles Kennedy will greet Byle and present him with a cheque and a York sweatshirt as a token of York's appreciation for Byle's dedication and courage.

Byle, an avid athlete, was diagnosed with diabetes when he was 18. He began his coast-to-coast run at Stanley Park in Vancouver on June 1, 1998, and hopes to reach Halifax this December.
