The Centre responds to the need for a space that brings together Indigenous faculty, researchers, students and community members, as well as all those doing Indigenous and decolonizing research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emerging from <a data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/indigenous.yorku.ca\/framework\/\" href=\"https:\/\/indigenous.yorku.ca\/framework\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Indigenous Framework for York University: A Guide to Action<\/a>, <strong>CIKL <\/strong>addresses the 10 Principles of the Framework and will support the following items, in particular:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Facilitate research that is relevant to Indigenous Life, and respects Indigenous approaches to knowledge and learning (no. 5)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Establish spaces for Indigenous cultures and community within the university (no. 7)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure that the perceptions and experiences of Indigenous community members are reflected in the classroom, on campus and in university life (no. 8)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Centre for Indigenous Knowledges and Languages engages with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/research\/strategic-research-plan-2018-2023\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/research\/strategic-research-plan-2018-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">York University Strategic Research Plan<\/a> in several key ways. Not only will the Centre promote and facilitate research around York\u2019s six research strengths but will be a crucial avenue for the growth of research in Indigenous Futurities, a key area identified for further growth and acceleration in the Strategic Plan.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\"
