York University undergraduate students with an interest in Korea spent three weeks in Seoul in May 2025 as part of their global political studies summer study abroad course.

Every day was filled with learning: visits to palaces and museums, K-pop dance class, tour of the DMZ, Korean cooking class, baseball game, lectures, visits to historic sites, live shows, and more.

The students visited Chung-Ang University, Ewha Womans University 이화여자대학교 and Yonsei University. In addition, the students met with officials at the Canadian Embassy in Seoul.

The course provided students with an understanding of contemporary Korean culture, history and politics that is only possible from experiential education.

"The summer study abroad course demonstrates the commitment to internationalization of the university, and KORE’s partnerships in Korea," said Thomas R. Klassen (School of Public Policy and Administration) who led the course.
