Editors share their insights for early-career scholars seeking to publish their work, explaining how you should identify an appropriate journal, for instance, and how to respond to revise and resubmit requests that are most likely to result in publication. In short, this is a session on everything you wanted to know about publishing in peer reviewed journals, but were afraid to ask!\nSpeakers\n\nMerouan Mekouar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Science at York University. With over 25 academic conferences under his belt, he will share his extensive experience presenting different research projects to diverse audiences in Canada and abroad. His latest book, "Doing Research as a Native: A Guide for Fieldwork in Illiberal and Repressive States," published by Oxford University Press earlier this year, examines the unique challenges faced by native scholars conducting research in their home countries.\nIsabelle Côté is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Her work examines nativism in federal states, as well as the role of population movements on intrastate conflict and contentious politics in Asia and beyond. She has published in numerous journals in Political Science and Security Studies, and has co-edited two books ‘People Changing Places: New Perspectives on Demography, Migration, Conflict and the State’ (Routledge, 2019) and ‘Resettlement: Uprooting and Rebuilding Communities in Newfoundland and Labrador and Beyond’ (ISER Books, 2020). She was also awarded the 2024 President’s Award for Teaching (faculty), and the 2020 Canadian Political Science Association Teaching Award. She is currently on the executive board of Women in International Security-Canada (WIIS-C), and is the co-program chair of the 2025 Canadian Political Science Association conference.\nElaine Coburn is Associate Professor of International Studies at York University and the current co-editor of the interdisciplinary Journal of Canadian Studies.  She previously edited Socialist Studies and she was a member of the editorial boards of the Canadian Review of Sociology in Canada and Socio in Paris, France. She has peer-reviewed for more than thirty journals in Indigenous studies, political science, political theory and sociology.\n\n
