Research on Financial Literacy from a racialized and problematized perspective in Brazil

What is understood by financial education? Who benefits from it? And why has this topic become increasingly relevant in recent years? Which social markers intersect with this theme? Are there alternative forms of financial organization in contexts considered informal, which could serve as inspiration for thinking about financial education from a racialized and problematized perspective?
These questions guide the discussion in this study. For instance, race and gender are social markers that, in an intersectional way, reveal economic inequality in Brazil. Therefore, it is necessary to discuss financial education from this perspective to foster reflections that enable a more critical approach to the field. This includes considering financial education both as a scientific research area and as a topic within mathematics education, given its transversal presence in Brazilian educational legislation, which allows teachers to address it in schools, particularly those teaching mathematics.
