Kolawole Olugbenga Adekola

Kola Adekola is a Nigerian archaeologist at the Department of Archaeology and Anthropology, University of Ibadan, Nigeria's premier university where he had all his degrees. He is currently on a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Cyprus Institute, Nicosia, Cyprus and later at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom


Dr. Adekola is an active member of the World Archaeological Congress (WAC) since 2006 and currently the Junior Representative for Western Africa on the Council of WAC. Between June 2016 and July 2018, He was an Executive Member of the Society of Africanists Archaeologists (SAFA) as Member at Large 1 for Africa.


He was a Visiting Scholar to the Center for African Studies, University of Florida, Gainesville, USA, January 30 to February, 27, 2015. In 2022, between January and February, Dr. Adekola was a Visiting Professor to the Archaeo-Anthropology Laboratories of the Centre for Archaeological Research, Ancient and Medieval History (CRAHAM), Universite de Caen, Normandie, France.


He has presented papers on Archaeology, Cultural Landscapes, Heritage Management, and Archaeological Theories and Methods in such places as Dublin-Ireland (WAC 6-2008); Dakar-Senegal (SAFA-2010); Dead-Sea-Jordan (WAC7-2013); Gainesville, Florida-USA (2015); Tampa, Florida-USA (2015); Toulouse-France (SAFA-2016); Accra-Ghana (WAAA-2019); Nairobi-Kenya (2023) and Norwwich-UK (TAG-2023).


Adekola's field of study include Material Culture, Archaeological material Science, Archaeological Theory, Cultural Evolution, Cultural Landscape, Ceramics, Artefact Analysis and technology.
