Wendy completed her PhD in Human Geography at York University’s Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change (January 2025). She holds a MA in Southeast Asian Studies from the Center for the Study of Asia and Africa (CEAA), El Colegio de México where she is currently a Contract Faculty (August 2025 to June 2026). She is also a member of the Changing Work at Sea research project in which she focuses on Indonesian migrant fish workers, port and Indonesia-based support organizations and worker associations.
Wendy is also an Adjunct Professor at Hasanuddin University in Makassar, Indonesia.
In her doctoral dissertation, she analyzed the changes in sand and stone materials mining in the Jeneberang river in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. She continues to work on this topic and is currently developing publications.
Wendy is a member of Grupo de Estudios sobre Eurasia (Eurasia Studies Group); she is currently the Vice-Coordinator.
