Industry-Academia-Government Collaborative Innovation Mechanism: A Study of Canada’s Mitacs in Comparison with the “Innovation China” Platform

Thursday, 10 April 2025 | 15:00 to 16:00 EDT | Room 857, Eighth Floor, Kaneff Tower, Keele Campus, York University and Virtually via Zoom
With Yawen Liu
This presentation will take Mitacs as the primary case study to examine its objectives, collaboration mechanisms, and value formation. Then, it will conduct a comparative analysis with the "Innovation China" platform. The discussion will focus on key differences and similarities in terms of government support, industry collaboration, technology commercialization, and internationalization strategies. Through this comparative study, it aims to gain a deeper understanding of optimized pathways for industry-academia-government collaboration within different innovation ecosystems and explore how lessons from different national models can be leveraged to enhance global scientific and technological cooperation.
Yawen Liu is a visiting researcher at the York Centre for Asian Research at York University, Canada, and a PhD candidate in Public Administration at Harbin Institute of Technology.
