Amounts awarded will range from $50 to $500 with the expectation that they will be used in conjunction with other awards.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for applications is <strong>Monday,<\/strong> <strong>18 January 2016 by 4pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligible applicants<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>YCAR Graduate Associates are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to applications from students registered in the Graduate Diploma in Asian Studies.<\/li>\n<li>Students must be Graduate Associates on the date of application and the date of presentation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Eligible expenses<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Registration and transportation expenses necessary to present scholarly or creative work at recognized events, e.g., conferences, colloquia, poster presentations and exhibitions.<\/li>\n<li>Disability accommodation costs (e.g., attendant care, medical equipment costs, accessible transportation, interpreters, note takers)<\/li>\n<li>Expenses must be incurred in the period six month before and six month after the application deadline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Amount of allocations\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Allocation amounts may vary based on the amount of applications and the number of high-expense applications in any given application cycle.<\/p>\n<p>Successful applications will be allocated a portion rather than the total amount of transportation costs, between C$50 and C$500. Students are expected to\u00a0<strong>use the<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>most economical option available<\/strong>\u00a0and are encouraged to seek other sources of funding.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Process<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The applicant completes and signs the application form; if a field does not apply, it is indicated by marking \u201cN\/A\u201d.<\/li>\n<li>The applicant submits the completed application form to YCAR with:\n<ul>\n<li>Call for papers\/submissions<\/li>\n<li>Abstract<\/li>\n<li>Confirmation\/proof of event acceptance (communication from event organizers, event program announcing the applicant\u2019s participation in a session or exhibition, et cetera)<\/li>\n<li>Short statement explaining the importance of the conference\/meeting for the student's professional development<\/li>\n<li>Short statement of other sources of funding applied for, or awarded<\/li>\n<li>Supervisor\u2019s statement and signature<\/li>\n<li>Specific travel details, including place of departure and destination, mode of transportation, estimated cost of transportation, et cetera.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Application Deadlines\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The deadline for applications is <strong>Monday,<\/strong> <strong>18 January 2016 by 4pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The application form is available online at: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/ycar\/Awards\/YCAR_Professional_Development_Fund.html\">www.yorku.ca\/ycar\/Awards\/YCAR_Professional_Development_Fund.html<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Completed and signed paper applications must be received by YCAR (834 Kaneff Tower) before 4pm on the deadline date.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants are strongly advised to <u>complete the application well in advance of the deadline<\/u> to give adequate time to obtain the required signature and comments from their supervisor.<\/p>\n<p>Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Further Information<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applications are reviewed and allocations determined by the Awards Committee of the York Centre for Asian Research.<\/p>\n<p>The notification of award will be made within one month after the deadline.<\/p>\n<p>Awarded fund are made available to the awardee as reimburseable expenses.
