The York Centre for Asian Research (YCAR) invites York faculty members or teaching assistants to nominate exceptional undergraduate student papers for our inaugural YCAR Undergraduate Asia Essay Awards.<\/p>\n
A small monetary award of $100 is available for one recipient in each category: Geographic Asia and Asian Diaspora.<\/p>\n
The winning papers will be published online as part of \u2018New Voices on Asia\u2019, a special occasional paper series at YCAR<\/p>\n
Essay criteria:
\n\u2022 The submission should be an original and unrevised version of a term paper
\n\u2022 It should have a substantive focus related to Asia or the Asian Diaspora
\n\u2022 It should have been submitted for a York university undergraduate class in the 2015-2016 academic year
\n\u2022 It should not have been published or recognized elsewhere<\/p>\n
Submissions from faculty or TA nominators should include:
\n\u2022 Name, department and email of the nominator
\n\u2022 A brief paragraph detailing why the faculty member is nominating the essay
\n\u2022 A scan (or hard copy) of the student\u2019s unrevised essay with the marker\u2019s original comments on the essay included
\n\u2022 The student\u2019s name, programme, year of study and email address<\/p>\n
