Janie is currently Director of Strategic Initiatives with the Ministry of Health Promotion. Prior to that she held the position of Director of the Ministry Pan Am Games Secretariat, and was involved in all aspects of the Bid from the beginning inFebruary 2008 to the final successful bid announcement this past November. Janie led a variety of bid initiatives including the development of the $1.4B Strategic Business Case, domestic and international sport stakeholder relations, the development of the $700M Games venue strategy and other items including the Multi Party Agreement Framework, and Federal/Provincial relations. Previous to her work on the bid, Janie held the position of Director of the Ministrys Sport and Recreation Branch, Janie was responsible for the implementation and development of provincial policies and delivery of programs related to Health Promotion and the enhancement of sport and recreation programming in Ontario. Prior to joining the Ministry of Health Promotion in 2006, Janie enjoyed an exciting career in municipal government, holding positions with the City of Vaughan, the City of Burnaby, British Columbia and the City of London as the Director of Parks and Recreation. Janie has a wide variety of professional experience with a career that has spanned more than 20 years, including grass roots and high performance program delivery, international sport bidding, sport tourism, strategic planning, community sport development, and many inter-sectororal collaborations. |
