DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the Faculty of Science Conversations on Science Education Symposium on Monday, June 12, 2023 from 9 am to 4 pm. This event is open to science faculty and graduate students. All sessions will run in-person at Bethune College Room 320 (Paul Delaney Gallery), with the option to attend the keynote address virtually (9am-10am). Lunch and snacks will be served to those attending in-person.\n \nDate: Monday, June 12, 2023\nTime: 9am - 4pm\nLocation: Bethune College Room 320 (Paul Delaney Gallery)\nView the event schedule [PDF]\nRSVP HERE and answer a few pre-symposium questions.\n \nOne of the day's sessions, "Fix My Issue!" will be an interactive discussion on pressing teaching topics in science teaching and learning. In the registration Machform, we've asked you to identify areas that interest you so that this session will be relevant and timely. More details will follow closer to the event.\n \nKEYNOTE SPEAKER (9am-10am, in-person and virtual):\n \nOur keynote speaker, Dr. Michelle Hogue, will be speaking on "Decolonizing Teaching and Learning in STEM". Dr. Hogue is Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Indigenous Student Success Cohort (ISSC) program at the University of Lethbridge. Her locally, nationally, and internationally recognized teaching and research focuses on building bridges between Indigenous and Western ways of knowing and learning.\n \nWe look forward to seeing you at the symposium.\n
