Mitacs Globalink Research Award Thematic Call

As part of a special initiative, Mitacs recently launched a competitive call for applications for the Globalink Research Award program in areas of strategic importance for the Canadian and international research communities. A summary is provided below.
To offer senior undergraduate, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in Canada the opportunity to participate in 12-to-24 week research projects supervised by professors at accredited universities in the following Mitacs partner countries: Brazil, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Tunisia, United Kingdom.
The themes and subthemes are as follows:
1. Artificial Intelligence:
- Responsible AI
- Data governance
- Future of work
- Innovation and commercialization
2. Quantum Technologies:
- Quantum computing and simulation
- Quantum networking and communication
- Quantum sensing and metrology
3. Green Economy:
- Sustainable industry
- Clean technology and materials
- Clean energy transition
- Healthy environments (includes Arctic research, oceans, sustainable agriculture and smart cities)
4. Pandemic Preparedness:
- Pandemic preparedness and AI
- Social impact policy making
- Societal response to Covid-19 pandemic
- One Health
12 to 24 weeks
Although there are limitations on international travel at the present time, research projects selected through this call for applications will have up to a year to begin (until February 2022), once circumstances allow.
