Want to learn about how to research math and earn course credit, then consider taking Math 4000 (Individual Project)<\/strong>. To do so, contact a professor you would like to work with, and discuss the type of projects available and expectations he\/she has for you.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n

The William Lowell Putnam Mathematics Competition<\/strong> is a North American mathematical contest for undergraduate students. It is organized by the Mathematical Association of America and is taken by over 4,000 participants at more than 500 colleges and universities. It is considered by many to be the most prestigious university-level mathematics examination in the world! For more information about training and participation, contact the 2022 coordinator, Professor Madras, at madras@yorku.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The <\/strong><\/em>Mathematical Contest in Modeling<\/a><\/strong>,<\/strong><\/em> is an international online contest for university and college undergraduates. Each year\u2019s contest runs from Thursday to the following Monday.  During this time, teams of up to three students research, model, and write-up a solution to an open-ended real world problem. The contest attracts students from over 900 institutions around the world. Interested students should send an email to the coordinating Professor at mcm_ms(at)yorku(dot)ca as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The AWM Student Chapter at York<\/a>  is a community of York students to support and celebrate women, girls, and gender minorities in mathematics.<\/strong> It is open to all <\/strong>York students regardless of gender identity or expression, race, color, religion, age, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

ASA<\/strong>\u00a0is the undergraduate student club for our students studying Actuarial Science. They work closely with Club Infinity, but focus on the specific needs of students hoping to become actuaries.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Club Infinity<\/a><\/strong> is the undergraduate student club in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. They organize events for students and act as a liaison between our undergraduates and faculty. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
