NSERC 2021 Summer Undergraduate Research Conference

NSERC 2021 Summer Undergraduate Research Conference

On August 19, 2021, the Faculty of Science will host the annual NSERC Summer Undergraduate Research Conference.

Meet the Researchers

There are 43 students who will participate in our conference.

Message from NSERC to Participants

Since 1980, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) has supported research experiences for university students early in their careers through the Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) program. The program currently provides direct support for research work terms for more than 3,000 students each year and is meant to nurture the interest of undergraduate students and fully develop their potential to pursue a research career in the natural sciences and engineering (NSE) disciplines. Each award has a value of $6,000 for a 16-week period. Institutions are required to supplement the value of the award by at least 25% using other funding sources, such as university funds, NSERC grants, or any other research funds. NSERC also supports undergraduate students indirectly, through researchers who use their NSERC grant funds to hire students to assist with their research.

If you are a student who wishes to undertake graduate studies in these fields, remember that you may be eligible to apply for other NSERC scholarships. You can visit the Students and Fellows section of NSERC’s website for more information.

We would like to express gratitude to the professors who hosted and supervised your research experience. We want to thank any graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and technicians from York who played a mentorship role and otherwise supported your efforts. We would also like to express our appreciation to the York University staff members who manage the USRA program. The time and attention that you have invested in training the next generation of researchers in Canada are invaluable.
