The Graduate Program in Physics and Astronomy provides generous funding and benefit packages to help its students deal with the costs of their studies.
Funding is comprised of one or more of the following internal and external funding sources: fellowships, teaching assistantships, graduate assistantships, scholarships and awards, and research assistantships. Funding is contingent on continuous registration as a full–time student, continued satisfactory academic progress as determined by Faculty of Graduate Studies Regulations and Program Requirements, and fulfillment of any funding-related employment obligations.

York University is located in a major metropolitan setting. Consequently, it is difficult to estimate the cost of living, for much depends upon individual choice, interest, and lifestyle. There is a charge for health care for domestic students who do not hold a teaching assistantship. International students are required to participate in and pay for a mandatory medical insurance premium provided through the University Health Insurance Plan.
General information about fees and their payment is provided here. For both domestic and international students, tuition and supplementary fees for the current academic year are laid out here. Information about the Student Choice Initiative and the opt-out process for supplementary fees is given here.
