I became a student ambassador because... I wanted new students to be welcomed to York with a smiling face. Entering university can be such a daunting experience and so I wanted to become a part of the reasons to ease one's worries. Also, I wanted to be able to represent transfer and/or international students who have it tough--if not tougher--than everyone else, and show them how welcoming the York community actually is. Overall, transitioning to university is not an easy experience for most and that's why we're here, constantly honing our skills, to become of better help.

I became a student ambassador because... I wanted to offer a perspective into the enriching science programs York has to offer at events such as the OUF where prospective students are at the cusp of making their university decision. My role as an SOS peer tutor has also motivated me to pursue more leadership opportunities at York where I can actively support students’ academic achievement early on in their degrees and point them towards exciting opportunities beyond the lecture hall. Lastly, I am incredibly passionate about communicating science and igniting the excitement that comes from learning something new or enriching your knowledge of what you already know!

I became a student ambassador because... I have decided to become a student ambassador because I would like to help other students to overcome the challenges, they might face in their first year, knowing that first year is the most stressful year for most of the students. Also, to share with them the experiences that I have gained and the mistake that I have done so they could avoid them and follow the right path. And I would like to encourage all the students not to use all their time studying while they should also try to get involve in clubs and different variety of activities on campus as that would help build their resumes from the beginning and to improve their personality. Because form my opinion being at university is not all about sitting in classes to get the highest grades while its more about building the knowledge and preparing yourself for the work environment that you will encounter after graduation.

I became a student ambassador because... When I went to the Ontario University Fair in grade 12 while evaluating my university options, I interacted with a lot of student ambassadors about my program and their guide to coming to York. That first interaction itself is what got me interested and I wanted to be an ambassador from my very first day at York. Once I learned more about the program I became even more interested because I am very interested in organizing and leading events and helping out newcomers. Being a SA creates these opportunities for me and also help me organize my schedule better.

I recognized how important the Student Ambassador role was to my overall impression of the science faculty, and I truly wanted to guide prospective students, who were once in my position, by facilitating them through their decision-making processes and providing them with intuitive details about our faculty and amenities.

I became a student ambassador because... I would like to promote our positive and welcoming science community to the public and help guide any York Science students who may be struggling using my experience to enhance their knowledge and comfort level with us. I decided to become a Student Ambassador to return my appreciation to the science community by sharing my experience in the most authentic form to help prospective students transition smoothly. Also, it's a good way to stay connected within our community.
