International students must be&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/yorkinternational.yorku.ca\/immigration-overview\/working-in-canada-opportunitiesandrequirements\/\">International Student Employment Fund (ISEF) eligible<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NUMBER OF POSITIONS:&nbsp;1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>RATE OF PAY:&nbsp;<\/strong>$17.20-18 per hour<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>EMPLOYMENT TERM:&nbsp;<\/strong>May-April<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HOURS OF WORK:&nbsp;<\/strong>10-13 hours per week Fall\/Winter<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>JOB DESCRIPTION:&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Student Art Gallery Curator is responsible for the curation, installation, and monitoring of exhibitions at the Eleanor Winters College Art Gallery. This role involves the development of arts-based community programming and events, as well as ensuring the gallery space remains vibrant, accessible, and a showcase of York University students\u2019 talent. The curator will work in collaboration with faculty and staff to enhance the gallery\u2019s visibility and foster an engaging environment for both students and the broader community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Eleanor Winters Art Gallery Student Curator\u2019s job duties include the following:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gallery &amp; Exhibition Curation&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Curate, install, and organize exhibitions to showcase York University student and community-based artists.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop and execute exhibition concepts that enhance the gallery\u2019s artistic direction and visibility.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Solicit, review, and select exhibition submissions from students and other artists.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Oversee the setup, teardown, and maintenance of exhibitions, ensuring proper handling and care of artwork.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organize and oversee exhibition receptions, including coordinating catering, invitations, and event logistics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Liaise with artists and external partners involved in each exhibition, ensuring all parties are well-informed and supported.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Community Atmosphere and College Space Enrichment<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Develop and implement innovative programming that enhances the campus atmosphere and creates engaging experiences for students across Winters College.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Curate and coordinate artistic and musical events to enrich the cultural life of the colleges and showcase diverse student talents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organize events and campaigns that build and strengthen College pride, helping students connect with the unique identity of Winters College.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Design and implement arts-based programming and events to engage the campus community and local artists.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Publicize gallery events and exhibitions across multiple platforms, both online and offline.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collect feedback from students and share insights with the Student Engagement Coordinator to continuously improve the quality of college life.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gallery Operations Support<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Support day-to-day operations of the gallery, ensuring it is open and accessible during posted hours.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain an inventory of gallery supplies and materials, ensuring that necessary items are available for each exhibition.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Archive exhibition-related information, including documentation and artist details, for future reference.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit required exhibition contracts and TUUS Permit forms, ensuring compliance with university policies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit monthly and weekly updates to the Manager, Student Life regarding gallery activities and upcoming exhibitions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend Winters College Council meetings and provide regular reports on gallery activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Complete other duties as assigned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additional Responsibilities of the \u201cLead\u201d Ambassador Position<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Attend weekly meetings with the Coordinator to discuss feedback, direction, strategy, identify team needs, and advises Coordinator on improvements and new initiatives.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support the daily flow of the SLCD spaces.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support events including creating workflow charts, action plans, assisting with planning student organization related events.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Act as the liaison with other departments and represent when the coordinator is unavailable to attend.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Undertake tasks associated with coordinating a smooth and well-functioning team (informational research, distribution of materials, referrals, presentations, create social media content, participate in online discussion boards, answer emails)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prepare weekly updates on metrics and inform the Coordinator and Manager, Student Life.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advise the Coordinator on stock levels of resources in the kiosk, SCLD spaces, coordinate team staffing resources, and troubleshoot all daily operational details.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Required Qualifications<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Must be Fall\/Winter Domestic or International Work-Study eligible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Previous experience on an SCLD team is an asset.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience in student engagement initiatives such as student clubs, peer mentor programs, orientation, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience in event planning and project management is an asset.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to provide accurate information and resources in a fast-paced environment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel as well as Teams<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with Mailchimp, WordPress, and Canva is an asset.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to work well in a team but also independently.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong interpersonal skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Comfortable presenting\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to understand policy and apply it to daily activities as well as educate others.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Detail-oriented and demonstrated ability to take initiative.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Excellent oral &amp; written communication skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Demonstrate experience using various social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) as well as knowledge of social media analytics.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge of York\u2019s campus, services, and resources<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Knowledge &amp; Experience with SCLD services an asset<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Should understand the basics of student club constitutions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Must be available for all mandatory training in May and August\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Location<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The position is intended to work on-campus and those interested should only apply if they can be present on the Keele campus during designated work hours.&nbsp;&nbsp;In the event the university decides to pivot to a remote work environment again, SCLD will determine how to best utilize staff to continue to run operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mandatory Training
