YorkU & Sustainable Development Goal

At York University, the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a shared framework for advancing positive change through teaching, research, campus operations, and community partnerships. York is committed to meaningful education around the SDGs across the University, ensuring that sustainability learning is relevant and applicable to all students, regardless of discipline or program of study.

This commitment is embedded in the University Academic Plan, which emphasizes preparing students to address complex local and global challenges through interdisciplinary learning, experiential education, research, and community engagement.

Together with York's Sustainability Strategy 2030, the Academic Plan supports the integration of sustainability and the SDGs throughout the student experience, helping to develop knowledgeable, engaged, and responsible global citizens equipped to contribute to a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient future.
