Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW)

This Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) is the first in a series of certificates you can earn. After you have completed the ISW you can take the Facilitator Development Workshop (FDW) where you learn how to facilitate the ISW, and gain valuable facilitation skills in the process.

Learn more below!

This 3-day intensive workshop encourages examination of one’s teaching practices with feedback focused on the learning process rather than on the specific lesson content. The ISW engenders participatory learning and community building that can transfer back into the classroom.

Participants work collaboratively in a small group setting to further develop their teaching effectiveness as they design and lead three 10-minute lessons. Following each, participants receive reflective verbal, written, and video feedback from the other participants who have been learners.

The FDW is a five-day training to prepare participants to lead the Instructional Skills Workshop. As in the ISW, participants will continue to refine their teaching techniques through the lessons and develop strategies for facilitating the group process.

Participants will develop new knowledge and techniques for facilitating group development, teaching methods, formative evaluation techniques, and to receive feedback on their own facilitation skills. The FDW provides an opportunity for professional development in a challenging and supportive atmosphere.
