Teaching dossier support

The Teaching Commons provides teaching dossier support to university teachers through the facilitation of workshops and links to online supports and resources. We can provide you with the tools needed to write and develop your dossier, re-write and update your dossier for evaluation purposes, and in the preparation of materials for teaching award submissions.

If you are a graduate student, see our graduate student workshops for teaching dossier support.

Putting together your teaching dossier

The teaching dossier is a reflection of your teaching philosophy and accomplishments. It serves as a tool that will provide evidence of your teaching work. This interactive workshop will provide you with the tools to establish, recognize, and reflect upon your own teaching practices.

For more information or to register, please visit the Teaching Commons Calendar.

Teaching documentation guide

York University’s Senate Committee on Teaching and Learning developed a guide, which offers a suggested format for your teaching dossier. This documentation also provides more detailed information on what should be included in a teaching dossier.

Guide to teaching assessment & evaluation

This guide developed by York University’s Senate Committee on Teaching and Learning provides course directors with strategies to reflect on teaching. It offers advice on how to gather feedback on teaching practices, guidance on how teaching might be fairly and effectively evaluated, which characteristics of teaching might be considered, and which evaluation techniques are best suited for different purposes.
