At the end of September 2025, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and other Chromium-based browsers will add new privacy rules that limit local network access.
When these changes roll out, you will see a browser permission prompt while using the online versions of Microsoft Products, like:
- OneDrive for Web
- SharePoint Document Libraries
- Lists
Choose Allow to keep things fast and to use offline features.
If you don’t click allow, some features won’t work as expected:
- Performance will slow down. Performance acceleration (faster data access) will be lost
- Offline functionality in OneDrive Web won’t be available
- Your overall M365 online experience may feel slower and less reliable
