How to Install Microsoft Office 365 via Click-to-Run

This guide is for users on unmanaged devices, both Windows and Macs, who are manually installing Microsoft Office 365 via the click-to-run software. Not sure if you are using an unmanaged device? Go to following page and find out.

Download for Windows:

To begin the Microsoft Office 365 installation on an unmanaged Windows device

  1. Close all Microsoft Office Apps
  2. To begin the Microsoft Office 365 installation for unmanaged users, go to: portal.office.com
  3. Sign in using your Passport York credentials

  5. On the portal dashboard, click Screenshot of install office icon
  6. Next, click Screenshot of save file button to download the Microsoft Office setup file

  7. Open your browser’s downloads Screenshot of opening browser downloads or (Ctrl+J) and select the setup file. This will run the installation

  8. Sit tight while Microsoft Office 365 begins its installation

  9. Once Office installs, you’ll need to activate it using your employee email

  10. Next, you will sign into office using your Passport York account info

  11. Lastly, click "Accept" to agree with the Microsoft Office License Agreement

  12. You’re done, and are ready to begin using Microsoft Office 365!

Download for Mac

To begin the Microsoft Office 365 installation on a Mac:

  1. Close all Microsoft Office Apps
  2. Go to: portal.office.com
  3. Sign in using your Passport York credentials

  4. On the portal dashboard, click Screenshot of install Microsoft Office 365 button. The Microsoft Office 365 installation file will begin downloading in your device’s “Downloads” folder
  5. Click the file located in the “Downloads” folder. This will begin your installationscreenshot of clicking the file located in the “Downloads” folder. This will begin your installation

  7. Review the license agreement and click “Continue”

  8. Next, click “Agree”

  9. Now, click “Install”

  10. Sit tight while your installation takes place

  11. When the installation is done, click “Close”

  12. You are done, and are ready to begin using Microsoft Office 365!
