Classroom Equipment Usage

Please note that as information and updates are made, the details found on this page may change. For this reason, along with security reasons, please do not print out these instructions. You can advise others of the information on this page by passing out the link to this webpage.

A. Seminar Rooms

These are the steps to use the equipment in the most basic room setup - a computer on a cart with a projector.

  1. Turn on the computer (just as you would in your office or home) and wait for it to come to the login screen
  2. Once the computer is on (as per the previous step), log into the computer with your Passport York username and password (all instructors would have their Passport York login information and this is also a security measure to make sure only instructors can use the equipment however the previous login (username: itc | password: York5065) is still available for use until further notice)
  3. If there is a screen in the room that you can reach, pull down the screen by hand. If it is a powered screen, use the switch to pull down the screen.
  4. Turn on the projector/display in the room by pressing the power button, or by using the remote control (attached to the computer cart)
    • Wait for it to warm up which may take about 180 seconds or less
  5. You are now able to teach the class with the projector/display showing what's on the monitor
  6. At the end of the class, turn off the projector/display by using the remote control and pressing the standby button and confirm by pressing it again, and don't forget to log out of the computer (because you logged in with your own Passport York username and password)
