File Access Service (FAS)

Retirement of FAS storage for students
File Access Storage (FAS)service for students will be retiring on December 23, 2021. The University will continue to accommodate file storage service for students on Google Drive with unlimited storage and Microsoft OneDrive with 5TB (5,000GB) of storage. Instructions on how to copy course materials and other saved data from FAS to either Google Drive, or Microsoft OneDrive.

Undergraduate students receive a free Google Apps account, which includes Google Drive with unlimited storage. For more information, go to https://google.info.yorku.ca/

Undergraduate and Graduate students also receive a free Microsoft O365account, which includes OneDrive with 5 TB of storage. For more information, go to https://uit.yorku.ca/student-services/software/free-microsoft-office-365-education-software/.

When making Zoom Recordings:

  1. Be aware that processing time is dependent on the computer (e.g. a 1 hour recording can take 20 minutes of processing time at the end)
  2. Consider making several shorter videos instead of one long video
  3. Make some test recordings before your recording session to be familiar with the steps and processing time
