The Association of the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) recognized Charles Hopkins for his remarkable contributions to sustainability in education with a Lifetime Achievement Award during a ceremony at the Annual AASHE Conference in Minneapolis (USA) on 22 October 2025.
With a career spanning decades, Hopkins has made lasting impacts through his leadership in experiential learning, authoring influential publications, and coordinating expansive research networks across more than 50 countries. Hopkins has also been a guiding force behind UNESCO’s Education for Sustainable Development initiatives, chairing processes to adopt key global declarations and fostering collaboration with ministries of education worldwide.
