The UNESCO Chair in Reorienting Education towards Sustainability at York University is pleased to share that Charles Hopkins has been invested as a Member of the Order of Canada. The investiture took place in Ottawa on March 19, 2026.
This national recognition acknowledges Charles’ longstanding leadership and global contributions to advancing Education for Sustainable Development. Over several decades, his work has helped shape international policy processes, supported institutional transformation, and strengthened collaboration across regions and sectors. As inaugural Chairholder of the UNESCO Chair at York University, his work continues to connect research, policy, and practice, contributing to more integrated and context-responsive approaches to sustainability in education.
