YU Retirement Planner

York University Retirement Planner (YURP) is a web-based retirement planning tool which is a complement to your annual Pension Statement. The YURP can be used by retirees, active, and deferred York University Pension Plan members as follows:

  • All pension plan members can view their annual Pension Statements.
  • Active and Deferred pension plan members can estimate their pension at any time from age 55 up to December 1 in the year they turn age 71. YURP is a pension estimator that is intended to be a useful pension planning tool. It should not be relied on solely when deciding to retire.
  • Active pension plan members can set-up additional voluntary contributions (AVC) to the York University Pension Plan.

How do I access the YURP for the first time?

If you joined the pension plan in the past year you can access the planner based on the following:

      • If you joined the pension plan between January to August, you would begin to have access to view information in the planner after the August update is applied in September.
      • If you joined the pension plan between September and December, you would begin to have access to view information in the planner after the December update is applied in March of the following year.
      • The Pension & Benefits Office will advise all pension plan members, via email, when the updates are completed and the information is available.

You can sign up for the YURP by entering your employee number on the Sign Up page.

You will receive an email with a link to activate your account. The link will be valid for 14 days.

Once you click the link to activate your account, you will be prompted to set up your password.

How do I sign in to my YURP account?

Please enter your employee number and the password you have set for your account.

You will need a two-factor authentication code to log in. Select the method to receive the code and click Send Code. If it is your first time logging in with two-factor authentication, the only method to receive the code will be by email and it will be the email associated with your account. Once you receive the code, enter it and click Verify.

How do I reset my YURP password? What do I do if I get locked out of the system?

If you get locked out of the system due to incorrectly inputting your password, you will need to reset your password. To reset your password, click on Forgot Password on the Sign In page. Services@seclon.com will send an email to the email address we have on file for you with instructions to reset your password. For active members, you can check the email address on file by logging into HR self serve.

The password is case sensitive, and you can not copy and paste it into the field. You must type the password into the appropriate field.

Sometimes the email with your password goes to your junk/spam folder, so check there if you have not received an email within one hour.

If you continue to experience issues, please contact us at AskUSC@yorku.ca.

How do I set up my Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs)?

As an active member of the York University Pension Plan, you may be interested in making Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs) within the Canada Revenue Agency limits (CRA).

By logging into the YURP and clicking on the “AVC” tab located between “Planning” and “Statements” you can:

      • View your current AVC room. Note: Based on earnings, both actual and deemed, AVC room may not be available due to Canada Revenue Agency annual contribution limits.
      • Set up AVCs through payroll deductions.
      • Read more information about AVCs (i.e., find out why there is a tax advantage in making AVCs through payroll deductions).

Note: You can only make AVCs through payroll deductions from January to September.

To contribute up to your limit, take the maximum amount and then divide it by nine. This is the monthly AVC amount that you will need to input into the Retirement Planner.

Please note when a salary increase is received your AVC room will be impacted, which could result in less AVC room available than originally anticipated. At the end of the year the Pension and Benefits team will review and ensure that all AVCs made were in accordance with the CRA contribution limits and should a refund be required the refund will be processed on your November or December pay.
