New awards celebrate excellence in teaching and research

President & Vice-Chancellor Mamdouh Shoukri has issued this statement to the community:

As a part of York’s 50th-anniversary celebrations, I am pleased to announce new awards for excellence in teaching and research. York has a strong complement of outstanding teachers and researchers and it is important to celebrate their accomplishments.

The President’s Research Excellence Award recognizes established, full-time, active faculty members with distinguished scholarly achievements who have had a notable impact on their field, and who have made a significant contribution to advancing the University’s international reputation for research excellence while positively contributing to the York community’s intellectual life.

Nominations are now being accepted for the President’s Research Excellence Award. The nomination deadline is Friday, April 17 at 4:30pm. Information and a nomination form can be found here.

Details of the President’s Teaching Excellence Award will follow shortly. I look forward to celebrating outstanding achievement in teaching and learning with the York community during our 50th-anniversary celebrations.
