This summer, York University will be awarding talented undergraduate students in the Natural Sciences and Engineering an opportunity to undertake a research project with one of York's exceptional NSERC-funded faculty members.
The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA) offers students an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a research lab over a 16-week period. These paid awards are intended to stimulate student interest in research and encourage students to pursue research-related industry careers and/or graduate school.
To be eligible to apply, students must:
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
- Be registered in a bachelor's degree program
- Have obtained, over the previous years of study, a cumulative average of at least "B"
- Have completed the degree requirements for your first year of university study (by the start of award)
To apply, students should speak with NSERC-funded faculty members to learn about available projects. Once a supervisor has been identified, both the student and faculty member must fill our Form 202 on NSERC's website.
For additional information regarding departmental deadlines, procedures, and requirements, please speak with your department's office.
Successful applicants will be notified in early March. Research placements will begin late April.
