The LaMarsh Centre for Child & Youth Research will present a talk entitled "Sport and Physical Activity in 2016: Are we Optimizing Child and Youth Development?" on Jan. 7, from 10am to noon in 519 Kaneff Tower.
This will be the first talk scheduled for the new year, with guest speaker Jessica Fraser-Thomas on board to discuss the topic. She will be joined by members of her lab.
Fraser-Thomas is a professor in the School of Kinesiology & Health Science, Faculty of Health, and an executive member of the LaMarsh Centre for Child & Youth Research.
Her current research includes: exploring the influence of the Olympics on preschooler development and sport participation; understanding relative age effects in sport; assessing youth sport programs’ facilitation of positive youth development; and understanding the experiences of a child star athlete from a developmental perspective.
