York University’s Parking & Transportation Services invites the York community to take part in Smart Commute Month, an annual campaign that encourages commuters to think differently about how they travel and supports the University’s leadership in sustainable transportation.
Smart Commute Month is an initiative dedicated to encouraging and supporting sustainable travel. The campaign invites the York community to try new ways of commuting to its campuses and to see how small changes in daily travel can make a big impact.
Throughout September, community members can join four webinars – organized by the City of Toronto – on topics including winter driving, the benefits of daily movement, cyclists’ rights and the use of micro-mobility devices.
These opportunities are complemented by year-round resources offered by Parking & Transportation Services to help staff, faculty and students explore alternatives to single-occupancy vehicle travel. Options include carpooling and ride-matching services, Toronto Bike Share, transit planning tools and incentives, and campus shuttle services.
The community can also participate in a survey organized by the Smart Commute organization, which provides valuable information to better understand commuting challenges and to develop solutions that align with York’s sustainability strategy.
York’s partnership with Smart Commute supports the mandate of Parking & Transportation Services to strengthen sustainability efforts, while promoting awareness of alternative transportation options to and from the University’s campuses.
