{"id":16212,"date":"2011-01-10T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-01-10T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/yfiledev.uit.yorku.ca\/2011\/01\/10\/york-honours-leading-canadian-hotelier-at-luncheon\/"},"modified":"2025-04-01T15:09:02","modified_gmt":"2025-04-01T19:09:02","slug":"york-honours-leading-canadian-hotelier-at-luncheon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/yfile\/2011\/01\/10\/york-honours-leading-canadian-hotelier-at-luncheon\/","title":{"rendered":"York honours leading Canadian hotelier at luncheon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>York\u2019s Hennick Centre for Business &amp; Law is honouring Kathleen Taylor, president and chief executive officer of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, at a luncheon tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/www.yorku.ca\/yfile\/photos\/20110110\/\/taylor1.jpg\" alt=\"Kathleen Taylor\" width=\"145\" height=\"180\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"8\" vspace=\"8\" \/>Taylor (JD &amp; MBA \u201984)\u00a0will receive the inaugural <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hennickcentre.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hennick Centre<\/a> Career Achievement Medal. The centre considered her an ideal candidate for the\u00a0medal because her career at Four Seasons exemplifies the benefits of a joint business and legal education.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Left: Kathleen Taylor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Before the luncheon, Taylor will give a lecture at York\u2019s Schulich School of Business. Both luncheon and lecture are by invitation only.<\/p>\n<p>After graduating from\u00a0York's\u00a0Osgoode Hall Law School and Schulich School of Business in 1984, Taylor worked in corporate securities and competition law at Goodmans LLP. She joined Four Seasons in 1989 as corporate counsel and moved steadily up the ladder. She was promoted to executive vice-president, corporate planning and development, in 1997; \u00a0president, worldwide business operations, in 1999; president and chief operating officer in 2007. Last August, she\u00a0was appointed president and chief executive officer.<\/p>\n<p>The Hennick Centre medal is her\u00a0second York award\u00a0after the 2001 Schulich Award for Outstanding Executive Leadership.
