\"Take<\/a>York University is participating in the annual Take Our Kids to Work program, a day when Grade 9 students accompany a parent, guardian, relative or neighbour to work to observe the daily activities of the employee at work. This year\u2019s program will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 7.<\/p>\n

Eligibility and Registration<\/strong>
\nThe Take Our Kids to Work program at York University is only open to University staff and faculty members.\u00a0 York University encourages Grade 9 students to become familiar with their parents' work environment (office, lab, etc.) and to also consider York for post-secondary studies.<\/p>\n

York University students who wish to bring their own Grade 9 student to campus must make prior arrangements with a York staff or faculty member to have the Grade 9 student accompany and observe the employee in a work environment.
\nFaculty and staff who would like to bring a Grade 9 student to work must complete, sign and return the Permission and Release, Waiver & Indemnification Forms<\/a> by Oct. 31 to Risk Management Services, Finance Department. Completed forms can be submitted by inter-campus mail, by fax 416-736-5815 or by e-mail to pottles@yorku.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Security, Health & Safety<\/strong>
\nThere are some areas of the campus such as workshops and science labs where operational risk factors may make it challenging to accommodate a Grade 9 student.\u00a0 If you work in this type of environment, organizers will try to find an alternate supervised university work site. To arrange an alternate work site, contact Marian Hissa, Department of Human Resources, Kinsmen Building, Keele campus, at ext. 22246 or at hissam@yorku.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n

All employees bringing children to participate in the Take Our Kids to Work program are reminded that the safety rules of the workplace apply to the students and, accordingly, each child should be instructed and supervised by the respective parent or sponsoring employee.<\/p>\n

Additional activities planned for Nov. 7<\/strong>
\nTo enhance the day\u2019s experience, York has organized the following additional activities for the students. If you would like the student to participate in any of these activities, you can register by completing the Registration Form<\/a> and by sending it to Marian Hissa, Department of Human Resources, Kinsmen Building \u2013 either by inter-campus mail, by fax 416.736.5703, or by e-mail to hissam@yorku.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n
