Everyone is welcome to attend this free event sponsored by the Faculty of Environmental Studies. Light refreshments and hors d\u2019oeuvres will be served. A Q&amp;A will follow the presentation. RSVP to <a href=\"mailto:tarob@yorku.ca\">tarob@yorku.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Miller was first sworn in as environmental commissioner of Ontario in 2000 to oversee the continued implementation of the Environmental <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-196098\" style=\"margin: 8px\" alt=\"Gord Miller\" src=\"https:\/\/yfile.news.yorku.ca\/files\/2013\/12\/Gord-Miller-199x300.jpg\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" \/>Bill of Rights. He was reappointed to his third five-year term in 2010.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right\"><strong>Gord Miller<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As an independent officer appointed by the Legislative Assembly, he oversees 14 ministries and monitors and reports annually on a three key areas, as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>government compliance with the provisions of the Environmental Bill of Rights;<\/li>\n<li>government progress on reducing greenhouse gas emissions; and<\/li>\n<li>activities in Ontario to reduce the use or make more efficient use of electricity, natural gas, propane, oil
