Karl Subban<\/p><\/div>\n

Karl Subban (BEd \u201990), who may be better known as the father of NHL superstar P.K. Subban, has a rich history as an educator and coach. Subban will be the guest speaker at the This Is Impact: Toronto Alumni Reception<\/strong> on Nov. 10<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A natural storyteller, Subban is a former school principal in one of Toronto\u2019s toughest neighbourhoods, and the father of five children \u2013 including three NHL players.\u00a0 He\u2019ll touch on his personal story of raising accomplished athletes and educators with the lessons he\u2019s learned as a coach and principal.<\/p>\n

The evening will also be an opportunity for York alumni to relive their days at York University and reconnect with old friends and make new ones. Alumni will have the chance to hear from York President and Vice-Chancellor Mamdouh Shoukri on the many exciting changes at the University. They\u2019ll also learn about York\u2019s most ambitious campaign yet and ways they can get involved.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re really excited to have Karl speak at this unique event,\u201d said Guy Laroque, executive director, Alumni Engagement, \u201cnot only is he an engaging and powerful speaker \u2013 his connections to education and the York community are a perfect for fit with the themes of the campaign that York University wants to speak about to its alumni community.\u201d<\/p>\n
