A marketing professor and a successful alumnus from the Schulich School of Business at York University are among the inaugural inductees in the new Canadian Marketing Hall of Legends<\/FONT><\/A>, established to celebrate Canada's great marketing success stories. <\/P>
\n

Alan Middleton, a professor of marketing and the executive director of the Schulich Executive Education Centre, will be inducted into the Hall of Legends in the Mentors category. The category pays tribute to individuals who have promoted excellence in Canadian marketing through academia, philanthropy or other initiatives. <\/P>

Also a York alumnus, Middleton (MBA '77, PhD '97) is the former president and CEO of J. Walter Thompson (JWT) Japan and a former member of the board of directors of JWT Worldwide. He is a frequent contributor to Marketing <\/EM>magazine and a popular media commentator on a wide range of marketing issues. <\/P>

Schulich alumnus Paul Alofs (MBA '83), president and CEO of Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, was inducted in the Builders category. The category pays pays tribute to corporate leaders who have built or led enduring brands and organizations. <\/P>

Alofs is the former president of HMV Canada and helped make the company the Canadian leader in recording retailing. He is also a past recipient of the 1994 Schulich Alumni Recognition Award for Outstanding Progress and Achievement. <\/P>
\n

Middleton and Alofs will be honoured at a black-tie gala at the Liberty Grand in Toronto on Jan. 27, 2005, together with eight other inaugural inductees to the Marketing Hall of Legends. <\/P>
